Down....down....down....

When I moved to Montevista in 2007, it was a great place to be. Comfortable apartments, impeccably maintained grounds and facilities, and a top notch office staff. The price point was a bit higher than properties across the tracks....er, Turnpike, but so were the standards, so it was money well spent in my opinion. In recent months, however, there has been a remarkable decline in standards here; it would seem the economy has not been kind to Montevista. "Free rent" and "$99 special" signs abound - and with them, increased police presence on the property. Lower rental standards have apparently spread to the hiring office as well, as newer staff is of a noticeably lower caliber. Record keeping is haphazard at best - maintenance orders may or may not "get there"; I've gotten calls and letters regarding short rent and late bills, when I've never been so much as an hour late with anything. My guess is the newer staff has a background in public housing and therefore has more of a "cops and robbers" demeanor rather than the high customer service standards that once existed here. Sad to see, but I dare say Greystar needs to re-evaluate it's position in the market and either raise the standards at this property to the price point, or lower the price point to the standards (think Oak Ridge or Americana). Disregard their videos and ads saying there is a spa...there is not. Not a big deal, but yet another sign of "stepping down." |
