Apartment Review
To move in or not move into Monterey Lake apts.
Review Date: 5/19/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
Monterey Lake apts is located right across the street from Seaworld and short driving distance from Universal and Disney. When I moved in with my husband late 2009, he figured this would be a great place to start our married lives and considering we're a low income, young couple, this place seemed perfect for us or so we thought. Soon after moving in, we were greeted by Brant and Dorothy as we were about to have a lovely day out with my family. We were kind of shocked; I mean afterall we paid rent earlier on in the day and nevertheless, here they were at our door. After asking what was the matter, Dorothy proceeded to call my husband and I out for making "too much noise too late" right in front of my family. How unprofessional! It took me by surprise and I couldn't believe what happened. After pondering for a while, I started getting really mad. I mean why would you talk about personal information in front of other people. At least pull us aside or ask to speak to us in private. NOOOOOOO! That was too much for them to do. Turns out that the people we live next to are old and must sit really close to the wall connecting as my husband played his video games and decided to complain. I never dealt wit people like this in all my life and I'm from Brooklyn, NY and you would expect that kind of stuff there but it's the actual opposite. Also, I've had many problems with this apartment. Mold is in the tank of my toilet, around the molding of my window and my patio door. The drawer in the bathroom and in the kitchen were broken and also the counter in the kitchen was uneven (built that way). Some of the people that live here are really weird and loud. There's a lady that screams every single day at her bf/husband from her apt to the parking lot! How ghetto is that!!! There's racial discrimination also. They separate the blacks and spanish from the white people. They were almost forcing us to take an apt. on the other side of the complex because we're not white and we requested to be by the lake. They weren't too happy about that! On weekends it's hard to get parking by your building especially if you're coming home late because there's so many college kids that live here and they invite a lot of people and they park in the spots so you're forced to park far away from your building! The pool that is closest to me (right by building J) is absolutely disgusting. There's dead bugs and insects in there. I figured it was a one case scenario but nope they don't clean the pool. I actually investigated this because I love to swim and would prefer a cleaner pool to swim in. I told them and nothing was done about this. Needless to say, I can't wait until my lease is up to just leave. It looked good from far but it's overpriced for the horrible service you get from them. |
