Apartment Review for Monterey Lake Apartments - Orlando, FL

Monterey was never my cup of tea, however, having ultilities paid wasn't so bad. Positives: They do try and success in trying to keep property clean and looking nice. Some of the leasing staff are nice and helpful. One of the staff members (I think is Assistant Manager is very unprofessional and lacks customer service skills). If you have any issue with bugs they come out to spray. They just added internet access as amenity. Ulilities are paid. Maintainance crew seems nice. Negatives: 1. The apartment community actually control termostat. NO personal AC or Heat access: Its freezing (had 3 hard freezes) and still NO HEAT!!! I was told they wouldn't shut of HEAT until February. My experience: If you use a personal heater in your room, you power shuts off. I only had on the light, a clock, tv, and heater and my power went off in my room--shuts off all the time. Before it was winter, I used my heater and was able to used my light, heater, tv, computer, clock, etc. NOT ONCE POWER WAS LOST. I think its because they are controlling your electrical usage in your unit due to them covering cost of electric-keep their cost low. Small Black Ants: Ants are everywhere beyond the most obvious place-the kitchen. Instead there are ants in your bed, desk, books, clothes, walking on doors, toliet (in and out), in window seal. They problem is like having roaches. They even crawl on you. I just killed on my laptop and on my chest (crawling on my shirt). The are massive numbers of them. Yet-In bed, clothes, toliet, books they are small numbers. You can have a drink on your desk, and the next second there are a swar of them in and around your cup and all over surface. They spray and only-short relief. It's like they are immune to whatever is being sprayed. Noise/The walls are very thin. You can hear the noise of water flowing through pipes (are very loud and annoying) all times of day, night, and early mornings. You can hear when others use the toliet (physically hear them urainating and flushing toliet). You can hear conversation at times of your neighbors. You can hear them walking and vaccuming at times. The toliet gives off awlful fume whenever you flush toliet. If you never use the toliet, mold set in toliet. I went home for a while. I came back, it was bacteria in the toliet/water. I clean my tolient and use bleach, but there are so much you can do. I have to literately keep bleach poured in the toliet to keep bacteria and mold away. I even close my door to keep fumes from being smelled in my room. In short, I really score Lake Monterery Low. I wouldn't recommend this apartment to a friend. Only if money was an issue (being utilities are covered for you). Its not worth the money being spent. I am moving! I will not miss Monterery! Everytime I see an ant or smell the toliet, I think "I just have a few more days before I leave." Boy, I cant wait to get up out of here. It's not that bad all-in-all (bearable to live here), but it's just not for me! I am use to better. Thanks for allowing me to share.
