I spent my second and third years at UCF at this apartment complex. It was a very mediocre place to live. Boardwalk is owned by Greater Southern Investments, who coincidentally owns Florida Multi Media, your internet service provider. The internet goes down with the slightest rain shower, and good luck getting in contact with someone if it's past 5PM or on a weekend. Ask any resident there, they will tell you what an abomination the internet is. It's a big deal if you have an online class or components of your class are online (I.E. quizzes or assignments you have to submit). The office staff is pretty much clueless. They will tell you to come back and speak with someone else. Work orders will typically take weeks to get fixed, if ever. I came home on a few occasions to find not one entire (non handicap) parking spot in that entire development. If you think you will be able to find one on weekend nights, think again. When I moved out, they tried to charge me $175 for a brand new desk in addition to not getting my security deposit back (both are being disputed) for some random cleaning charges. My bathroom was bleached multiple times and flawless when I moved out and they still charged for it. In addition to that, they tried to charge me for painting my room, which was due for paint anyways. Typical wear and tear is 2-3 years and I know it wasn't painted prior to my occupancy. Think about it like this. Rent there is $510+ a month. That's $2000+ per month that you and your 3 other roomates are paying for that small bedroom and bathroom. Do you know how much house $2000 can buy? Look into it.If you have 3 other friends, get a house. I'm in a huge 2 story right now. Rent+utilities+cable cost me $482. I never have to worry about not having a parking spot. If for some reason a house is out of the question for you, do yourself a favor and look around for a different complex. |
