Wow, what a gross place this was when I lived there for college so many years ago. Maybe it has changed, but I'll share my experience from back then. First of all, these were four-bedroom units, and you were basically renting a room and a common area which you shared with the other roommates. It was basically a fancy dorm. I guess that because these apartments were inhabited predominantly by college students, the staff had absolutely no concern about the comforts and cleanliness of the place. When I moved in, my room and the common areas were absolutely filthy from the previous residents -- they couldn't even have bothered to clean up and sanitize for a new tenant. I should have moved out right then, but it was a few days before school started, and I was stuck. Throughout the year, various drunk kids who thought they were funny would vandalize and make the place look like a dump, and the staff and maintenance never did a thing about it. Somebody threw a pie at our front door, and it stayed there for months until I finally moved out. There were constant loud parties being that it was a college place, so forget getting any sleep the night before an exam. Sorry, but I'd rather party at someone else's place, and come home to a nice peaceful one. The worst part was the manager of the leasing office -- what an absolute beast. I guess she assumed that since people's mommies and daddies were paying the rent, that she didn't owe the residents any respect or attention to their concerns. When I moved in, there was disgusting mold under the vinyl flooring in the bathroom. I asked to have this changed several times, and it never happened. To add insult to injury, when I moved out, she took the damage for the mold out of my security deposit! There was no response to my phone calls, so I actually had to drive back up from out of town to fight them for my money back, and they only paid me a partial amount. If I had to do it over again, I would have rented a real apartment. |
